The 19th ASEAN Finance Ministers' Meeting and the 11th Asean Central Bank Governors' Meeting opened in the Malaysia capital Kuala Lampur on March 21.

Finance Minister Dinh Tien Dung led the Vietnamese delegation to the events.

At their meetings, ASEAN finance ministers and central bank governors focused on accelerating efforts towards realising the ASEAN Economic Community by end of this year.

Main issues at the finance ministers' meeting included financial services liberalisation, capital account liberalisation, capital market development, payment and settlement systems, and banking integration.

Other significant areas of cooperation for discussion were enhancing regional surveillance, infrastructure financing - ASEAN infrastructure fund, customs matters, taxation, insurance, and financial inclusion.

A joint ministerial statement was issued at the event that wrapped up on the same day. The statement said ASEAN member countries will continue their commitment in boosting regional economic growth and financial stability.-VNA
