Foreign Ministers from member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) will discuss major regional and international issues at a meeting scheduled to be held on the southern isle of Phuket, Thailand, later this month.

At the press briefing on July 14, the Thai government said the topics for the ASEAN Ministerial Meeting and the Regional Security Forum, to be held from July 19-23, will include the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK)’s weapons programme, the recovery of the regional economy, and measures to cope with the A/H1N1 flu epidemic.

According to the Thai government, the annual ministerial meeting and security forum brings together foreign ministers from the 10 ASEAN members and 16 dialogue partners including the United States , China , Japan and the Republic of Korea./.
