Thailand’s National Science Museum (NSM) and Ministry of Science and Technology are coorganising the first ASEAN high school science fair, promoting Thailand as an international stage for academic science.

The contest pits high school students from seven ASEAN member countries against each other for the best science fair project. The event, which is being held at the NSM building in Pathum Thani province, will go on until July 10.

NSM Vice President Aphiya Hathayatham said the contest would strengthen and spark interest in science among high school students in Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, Vietnam, and Laos.

During the five-day event, 110 students and teachers from the seven nations will spend time together, participating in scientific activities and competing against one another.

The contest will determine the best projects in the categories of Physical Science, Biological Science, and Innovation. Winners will be given cash prizes and certificates from the organisers.-VNA
