ASEAN and Japan studied their future cooperation orientations in politics-security, economics, and culture-social affairs at the seventh meeting of their joint cooperation committee in Jakarta, Indonesia on July 23.

The seventh meeting of the ASEAN-Japan Joint Cooperation Committee (AJJCC) looked into preparations for the ASEAN Post-Ministerial Conference (PMC)+1 with Japan to be held in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar, on August 9.

Participants welcomed Japan’s commitment to continued support for ASEAN’s integration and Community-building process, including the establishment of the second Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund worth 100 million USD.

They emphasised the importance of assuring the efficient execution of the 2011-2015 ASEAN-Japan action plan as well as the plan to realise the declaration on ASEAN-Japan friendship and cooperation vision adopted by both sides in December 2013.

The progress and outcomes of the implementation of the action plan will be submitted to the ASEAN-Japan Summit in November 2014.-VNA
