Almost 120 officials from ASEAN labour inspection agencies, its partners countries and international labour organisations will convene in Quang Ninh province for the first time from October 13-14.

Speaking at a press conference in Hanoi on October 11, Deputy Minister of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs Bui Hong Linh stressed the importance of the first ASEAN Labour Inspectors’ Conference, as ASEAN countries are carrying out their action plans for the 2010-2015 period, agreed on at the ASEAN Labour Ministers’ Meeting.

The forthcoming conference is expected to contribute to the building of an ASEAN Community by 2015, he said.

The meeting is scheduled to discuss measures to strengthen the capacity of labour inspectors and cooperation amongst ASEAN countries, to ensure a strong and developed ASEAN community, he added./.
