The 33rd ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting (AMEM 33) and related meetings opened in Kuala Lumpur on October 7.

The Vietnamese delegation to the event is led by Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Hoang Quoc Vuong.

In his opening remarks, Malaysian Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water Maximus Johnity Ongkili highlighted countries’ mounting concern about global warming, climate change and global economic challenges, stressing that climate change along with the scarcity of natural resources and biodiversity loss are having serious consequences on the world ecological system.

The meeting agreed to continue intensifying existing cooperative ties and maximising support from foreign partners and international organisations towards building a sustainable ASEAN energy sector and ensuring energy supply for socio-economic development and energy access for all ASEAN citizens.
