More than 600 science and technology groups are taking part in Techmart Vietnam ASEAN+3, which opened on Sept. 17 in Hanoi.

To Huy Rua, Politburo member and Secretary of the Party Central Committee, and head of its Commission for Popularisation and Education; Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan and Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Uong Chu Luu attended the opening ceremony.

The techmart is organised by the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Hanoi People’s Committee and the ASEAN Committee on Science and Technology.

Representatives from ASEAN countries, China, Japan and the Republic of Korea are taking part.

Modern equipment and technology are on display, including those for the economic world, food processing, renewable energy, and information and telecommunications.

The event aims to promote advanced technology transfer to heighten competitiveness, productivity and the quality of goods and services.

About 770 stalls and more than 2,900 items are on display. More than 10 science and technology programmes from Vietnam have been given space at the techmart.

Many universities, research institutes and sci-tech associations have contributed to the exhibition, which runs until Sept. 20./.
