ASEAN statistics committee set up

the annual meeting of ACSS held in Jakarta , Indonesia on Nov. 4.

The committee was set up to boost cooperation in data statistics and expand statistical data for ASEAN members.
The committee will issue policies relating to statistics in the region, guide and examine statistical policies, measures and standards and be a bridge for ASEAN, regional and international statistical agencies.
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Secretary General of ASEAN for ASEAN Economic Community Sundram Puspanathan expressed his belief that the committee will help the region to achieve more accurate and reliable figures and better quality statistical data concerning the trade in goods, trade in services, foreign direct investment and other key factors of development./.
