ASEAN telecoms administrators gathered in Hanoi on July 7 to share experiences and information in an effort to improve their management capacity.

Speaking at the annual conference that will end on July 10, Standing Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Le Nam Thang said that the event is a chance for regional telecoms administrators to be informed of new technological achievements, services, equipment and application.

High on the conference agenda are discussions, aiming to seek measures to promote cooperation among ASEAN countries in several major fields, including the sharing of telecom infrastructure, roaming and television digitalisation in the region.

In addition, the conference will review what the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) has done in the framework of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Working Group on Telecommunications and Information (TEL), the Asian Pacific Telecommunity (APT) and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).

The conference also includes sessions with the participation of representatives from ASEAN’s important partners, namely China, Japan and the European Union (EU).

Vietnam, together with other ASEAN countries, has over the past years made efforts to build an information society, in which all people can access to telecom conveniences and acquire the world’s knowledge./.
