Hanoi (VNA) – A delegation of the Dutch defence attachés in Asia Pacific visited Song Thu Corporation, a firm under the Defence Ministry’s General Department of Defence Industry, in central Da Nang city on April 14.

The delegation was headed by Assistant Chief of Staff for the International Military Cooperation, Brigadier General Toine Beukering. He was accompanied by Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Vietnam Nienke Trooster.

General Director of Song Thu Corporation Colonel Ha Son Hai welcomed the guests and briefed them on the company’s four decades of operations.

The corporation has become a leading shipbuilder in Vietnam, earning about 2 trillion VND in revenue last year, Hai said, adding that it exported more than 40 different models of vessels to countries in the Europe, Latin America and Africa.

Beukering praised the firm, noting the partnership between the company and Netherlands-based Damen, an international shipyard group, as a highlight of the two countries’ cooperation.

He hoped that the partnership would grow with more jointly-built ships, helping the Vietnamese firm and the industry take a bigger role on the world stage.-VNA
