An Australian national was recently caught illegally transporting nearly 3kg of heroin while clearing procedures for a flight to Sydney at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City.

According to airport customs officials, H.T.N, 71, was disguising the heroin, valued at about 10 billion VND (470,000 USD) as pieces of soap and hiding them in her luggage.

Further investigation was launched for the case by the Ho Chi Minh City Customs in conjunction with the Police Department for Drug-related Crimes Investigation (C47B) at the Ministry of Public Security and the HCM City Police’s Office for Drug-related Crimes Investigation.

Since the beginning of this month, customs officials at the airport and other forces have discovered three cases involving the trafficking of 6kg of heroin by those exiting the country.-VNA
