Police in northern mountainous Bac Giang province on June 13 uncovered a drug smuggling case involved 40 heroin cakes and two Lao people.

In the night of June 13, Bac Giang’s traffic police stopped a pickup truck driven by Ha Moua, born in 1984, who was accompanied by Kham Phong, born on 1966, for speeding at 75km/hour, which surpassed the allowable speed at residential areas.

A quick search of the pickup carrying a Lao plate number of 2746 revealed two bags containing pink-coloured pills which the traffic police suspected it may be crystal meth.

Later, provincial drug investigation officers joined the search and quickly discovered 40 cakes of heroin hidden in the back of backseat in the car, together with 350 crystal meth suspected pills.

Two Lao men and confiscated heroine were then handed over to investigators of the Investigation Police Department of the Ministry of Public Security for further investigation.-VNA
