Bac Lieu held the “Da Co Hoai Lang” Festival on Sept. 9 to mark the 92nd anniversary of the appearance of the work and Vietnam’s Stage Day.

The festival, the biggest event so far, aims to commemorate late musician Cao Van Lau who made great contributions to the appearance and development of Da Co Hoai Lang, a beautiful piece of “cai luong” or reformed theatre.

The four-day event is also designed to honour artists who have contributed to developing traditional southern music.

Da Co Hoai Lang describes the love and fear of a woman for her husband who had been away for a long time at the front. She felt loneliness, unease and was worried whether he had still kept his love for her when he was living in a faraway place where he could be attracted by another beauty./.
