Belarus looks to expand comprehensive cooperation with Vietnam, underscored Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko while receiving the outgoing Vietnamese Ambassador in the capital city of Minsk on August 17.

He lauded Ambassador Do Van Mai’s efforts during his tenure and hoped his successor would actively cement ties between the two countries.

Lukashenko believed Vietnam would continue to see robust growth within the next decade and stated that Belarus wants to contribute to the progress through strengthening relations with the Southeast Asian nation, especially once the free trade agreement between Vietnam and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) is signed.

The President noted his nation always supports the presence of Vietnam in Europe.

At the meeting, host and guest discussed an upcoming Vietnam visit of Lukashenko by year’s end with an aim to upgrade Belarus – Vietnam relations.-VNA
