Binh Dinh provincial People’s Committee and the Belgian Development Agency started the construction of a water supply plant in Phu Cat district, the central province of Binh Dinh on Feb. 24.

The work is being built at a cost of 117 billion VND (8.95 million EUR). Of this, 73 billion VND (7.5 million EUR) was funded by the Belgian Government, 26 billion VND (1.45 million EUR) was sourced from the provincial budget.

Once finished by the second quarter of 2013, the project will supply water to 84,000 people in five communes of Phu Cat district and two communes of Tuy Phuoc district at a daily capacity of 5,600 cubic metres.

It will also pump water to schools, medical centres and public buildings in seven local communes.

The work is part of a water supply and hygiene project for Binh Dinh province which aims to reduce poverty and improve community health in six out of 11 districts and communes of the province through building irrigation, water supply and solid waste treatment works from 2009 until 2014. -VNA
