Binh Phuoc (VNA) – The southern province of Binh Phuoc currently has 1,371 dug addicts, 1,177 of whom are living in the community under the province’s programme on drug detoxification at the community, reported the provincial police.

The provincial Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs has coordinated with agencies to implementation communications measures to call for the involvement of the community in the work, with 32,400 flyers delivered, together with six panels placed in all districts and towns.

It has also coordinated with other agencies to manage and supervise drug detoxification as well as drug addicts to prevent them from relapsing into addiction.

In June, local authorities detected 164 new drug addicts and proposed to take community-based management of 52 drug addicts and send 12 others to compulsory drug detoxification centres.

So far this year, the department has received and sent 23 drug addicts to the provincial centre for treatment and education, while supporting 17 people to re-integrate into the community.

It has also provided law knowledge for 1,284 trainees and health care services to 1,848 others.
This year, as many as 38 out of 111 communes across the province set a target of eliminating drug addiction, while 102 communes aims to put an end to prostitution.-VNA
