Seven people were injured after a bomb hidden near rubbish bins exploded in a busy suburban Bangkok shopping area on May 26.

Thai police said on May 27 that the explosion occurred at 9pm (local time) in Ramkhamhaeng, a university area in the Thai capital.

Police are investigating to see what caused the explosion and who were involved. Preliminary investigation of the scene found many nails as part of the device.

Local police said the bombing was not part of a broader campaign.
