Bomb attack in Thailand-Malaysia border injures six
Bangkok (VNA) – At least six Thai police officers were wounded in an unusual explosion in a border area between Thailand and Malaysia in the southern province of Narathiwat on May 5.
Thai authorities said that attackers
detonated a bomb from Malaysia when Thai police officers were patrolling in Tak
Bai district, where a small river separates two countries.
Captain Boonsanit Khiewpradit of the Tak Bai police station said that authorities
discovered evidence showing that the bomb was placed in a roadside with wires
linking to the other side of the river in Malaysia’s territory.
The attack occurred while violence escalates in southern Thailand. Last week,
security forces of Thailand suffered a bloodiest attack in two years as six
border soldiers were killed in an ambush.-VNA
