The southernmost province of Ca Mau will register for the recognition of collective trademarks for its four specialities, namely Thoi Binh salted river fish, Nam Can sea crab, Dong Hung salted bulrush and Tan Thanh goby, this year.

It has so far completed procedures to submit the applications to the National Office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam (NOIP).

At the same time, the province has submitted a proposal to the Ministry of Science and Technology to approve a “Ca Mau” geographical indicator for its tiger prawns.

The provincial Department of Science and Technology has collaborated with relevant branches and agencies to popularise intellectual property knowledge in the community and direct individuals and organisations to conduct procedures to register their trademarks.

The NOIP has recognised and protected three Ca Mau province collective trademarks, namely U Minh honey, U Minh snakeskin gourami and Rach Goc dried shrimp.-VNA
