Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has asked members of the 13th government to uphold the tradition, heighten their sense of responsibility and join efforts to accomplish important tasks assigned by the Party and people.

The government leader made the request at a meeting to transfer the work between the 12th and 13th cabinets in Hanoi on August 7, urging cabinet members to immediately hand over the work to avoid the interruption of each ministry’s plans and programmes in 2011.

He requested ministers to review their ministries’ and sectors’ functions and tasks over the past term and coordinate with the Ministry of Home Affairs to amend and supplement tasks, especially overlapping missions and inter-sector coordination mechanisms, along with building working regulations of each ministry.

On the work of the previous term, PM Dung said that the government faced many difficulties, especially those caused by negative impacts of global economic crisis, natural calamities and epidemics as well as the sabotage of hostile forces.

However, he said, the 12th government united and joined force to surmount difficulties and fulfill their assigned tasks, making great contributions to the country’s common achievements.

At the meeting, PM Dung handed over the State President’s appointment decisions to Deputy Prime Ministers, Ministers and heads of ministerial agencies of the 13th government./.
