The government of Cambodian has donated 1.2 million USD to the World Food Programme to help reduce hunger and malnutrition in their country, according to the NAM news network.

The network quoted a WFP statement, released on July 1, that the donated funds will help provide food assistance to over 800,000 poor rural Cambodians affected by food insecurity brought on by last year's high food prices and this year's global economic crisis.

According to the statement, this is the third donation from the Cambodian government to the WFP since 2007.

The WFP is supporting Cambodia's government in its efforts to improve food security through all its activities./.
