Cambodia’s International Gemstone and Jewellery Fair 2015 was launched at the Diamond Island Exhibition Centre in Phnom Penh on July 23, aiming to promote the country’s jewelry industry.

The event, which saw the presence of Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Men Sam An, brought together approximately 40 exhibitors from Thailand, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Italy and the host country.

In recent years, Cambodia’s gemstone and jewellery industry has grown substantially, making it an important economic sector that not only meets domestic demands but also boosts tourism.

International tourists are extremely interested in Cambodia’s gems and fine jewellery products due to their unique designs. The country is famous for its precious ruby, which is found in the Pailin region near Thailand.

The exhibition, which runs until July 26, also features a gemstone and jewellery fashion show.-VNA
