Phnom Penh (VNA) – The Cambodian Government has set up a working group on dialogue and competitive economy with the US in order to raise economic cooperation efficiency between the two countries.

The ten-member group, led by Secretary of State for Ministry of Commerce Pan Sosak, formed on November 30, will participate in the meetings on trade and investment between Cambodia and the US.

Economists and experts in the field will be invited to the group’s meetings to contribute their opinions.

At the 3 rd ASEAN-US Summit held in Malaysia on November 21, the Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen suggested the US support his country’s human resource development by granting scholarships to Cambodian students, according to the spokesman of the country’s Ministry of Trade.

Last year, bilateral trade between Cambodia and the US reached over 3 billion USD, of which, Cambodia exported commodities worth nearly 328 million USD while importing goods worth 2.84 billion USD.-VNA
