Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen said on January 18 that there will be “no tolerance” for those who try to overthrow the current government.

“I will not allow any groups or individuals to take the country hostage and any act with the characteristics as a coup is unacceptable,” he was quoted by Xinhua as saying during his trip to Kratie province.

“Settling problems must be done on the negotiating table and in the National Assembly, cannot be done on the street side,” he reportedly said.

Cambodia is facing a political crisis related to the outcomes of the July general election, according to which the ruling Cambodian People’s Party won 68 seats and the opposition Cambodia National Rescue Party, 55. The opposition has since refused to accept the outcome, claiming irregularities, and boycotted the parliament.-VNA
