Phnom Penh (VNA) President of the Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) Sam Rainsy has postponed his planned flight from the Republic of Korea (ROK) to Cambodia on November 16 evening.

In a post on his Facebook page the same day, Sam Rainsy said he temporary put off his return to Cambodia but he will be back to the country in the next few days.

Earlier, a spokesman of CNRP said he will return from Seoul on a flight at 21:20 on November 16.

On November 13, Phnom Penh’s court issued an arrest warrant for Sam Rainsy to execute a sentence it pronounced in April 2011.

Under the sentence, the CNRP President was given two years in prison and a fine of 8 million Riel (200 USD) for slandering Deputy Prime Minister Hor Namhong, who is also Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and for inciting division.

The Cambodian National Assembly deprived Sam Rainsy of his parliamentary immunity on November 16. The Interior Ministry also set up a special committee to enforce the arrest warrant for Sam Rainsy.-VNA
