The value of Cambodia’s garment and footwear exports topped 1.7 billion USD, an increase of nearly 9 percent from the same period last year, according to the country’s Ministry of Trade.

The rise stems from the increase in export value to the European market, China, Japan, from 429 million USD to 521 million USD, said Muni Ka, General Secretary of the Garment Manufacturers Association in Cambodia (GMAC).

The country’s trade value posted at 4.75 billion USD in the first quarter, with exports earning 2.14 billion USD, up 7.5 percent, according to the ministry.

The country’s major export earners include garments, footwear, rice, agricultural products, and sugars.-VNA
