A direct air route linking the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho and the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong will be launched on April 26, with one-way fare set at 840,000 VND (around 38.6 USD).

The information was released at a working session between the Vietnam Air Services Company (Vasco) and representatives of the two localities in Can Tho on April 1.

The air route will be operated by Vasco and the Vietravel tourist company. Under the contract, Vietravel will charter two flights using 65-seat ATR plane per week. Forty out of the 65 seats will be reserved for Vietravel’s customers, while the remaining will be sold to the public.

According to Vice Chairman of Lam Dong People’s Committee Nguyen Van Yen, in 2014, the province welcomed around 4.8 million tourists, of which approximately 1 million are from the Mekong Delta region. However, only about 400,000 visitors arrived via airway at Lien Khuong airport in Lam Dong’s Da Lat City.

The opening of the Lien Khuong-Can Tho air route will help boost tourism connectivity between the two localities as well as others in the two regions, he said.-VNA
