The Government of Canada will pour over 7.6 million USD into a project improving the livelihoods of Vietnamese farmers.

Canadian Minister of Agriculture and Agri-food Gerry Ritz revealed the aid during talks with Vietnamese Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Cao Duc Phat in Hanoi on November 29.

Under the project, Vietnamese farmers will be able to access capital sources and then provided with knowledge about new and more effective methods in agriculture.

The Canadian minister stressed that the project will help local farmers and businesses increase their productivity in the field, thus deepening the trade ties between both countries.

Expressing thank to the Canadian Government for its aid, Phat said he believes that the project will benefit the country’s implementation of a project restructuring and modernising the agriculture sector.-VNA
