Cao Bang (VNA) - After the temperature plummeted overnight, snow has fallen, with thick ice and frost appearing on Phja Oac peak, in the northern mountainous province of Cao Bang.

The temperature was recorded at -7 degrees Celsius in the morning of January 23 on the wintery white mountain peak.

The rare appearance of snow may have attracted tourists who came to see the winter frost, however, it also has negatively impacted the locals’ activities.

According to Chairman of the Thanh Cong commune’s People’s Committee Ban Van Son, severe frost has damaging consequences to agricultural production, as well as being a risk to people’s health.

The authorities have urged locals to take several measures to cope with the cold weather.

At a height of 1,930m above sea level, Phja Oac mountain is the roof of Cao Bang province.

This was the third time snow has appeared at the mountain peak since last winter.-VNA
