Vietnam’s cement exports are expected to hit nearly 14 million tonnes in 2013, the highest level so far.

According to the Newspaper of Industry and Trade, in the first 11 months of this year, the country exported 12.5 million tonnes of cement, a year-on-year surge of nearly 65 percent.

Southeast Asia and the Middle East are the two main markets of Vietnam’s cement. Malaysia and Indonesia are the nation’s largest importers in the Southeast Asian region.

Meanwhile, the country’s domestic consumption reached nearly 43 million tonnes in 11 months, up more than 10 percent from the same period last year.

This year, Vietnam expects to sell more than 60 million tonnes of this product at home and abroad.-VNA
