Central and Central Highlands provinces have made commendable progress in education, as heard at a meeting featuring heads of the Departments of Education and Training from Emulation Area No 4.

During the 2014-2015 school year, all 10 localities in the region – Phu Yen, Binh Dinh, Quang Ngai, Quang Nam, Gia Lai, Kon Tum, Dak Lak, Dak Nong, Lam Dong and Khanh Hoa – essentially completed all tasks assigned to them.

It was reported that 2,225 out of the total 6,300 schools in the region have met national standards, up 265 schools from last year, and the rate of children going to school has constantly increased, reaching 99.6 percent among those of primary school age and 98.8 percent at junior high school level.

In addition, 96 percent of communes, wards and towns have achieved universalisation of pre-school education for five-year-old children.

The education sector in the region will continue to focus on improving school infrastructure and teaching and learning quality, increasing the number of schools meeting national standards and completing the universalisation of pre-school education for five-year-old children.-VNA
