A US-funded project on strengthening disaster prevention and adaptation capacity for the most vulnerable central coastal area of Vietnam was lauched at a meeting in Da Nang City on Nov. 29.

Funded by the US Agency for International Development, the project will be implemented in 18 months with funds of 700,000 USD, focusing on two Thua Thien Hue districts of Quang Dien and Phu Loc, and the Da Nang City district of Thanh Khe.

The project concentrates on consolidating coastal communities’ capacity in dealing with disasters, improving the capacity of authorities in disaster risk management and reinforcing policies and administration to minimise disaster impacts through information dissemination and campaign forums./.
