A ceremony was held at the Nha Rong wharf in Ho Chi Minh City on June 5 to mark the 102nd anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s journey for national salvation (June 5, 1911-2013).

Addressing the event, Director of the municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Thanh Rum said that President Ho Chi Minh’s journey for national salvation marked an important milestone in Vietnam ’s history, reflecting the Vietnamese people’s iron will to overcome all difficulties and hardships to seek the way for national independence and freedom.

The municipal authorities and people are determined to build HCM City into a civilised and modern city, contributing more to the national construction and development, he stressed.

On this occasion, a city delegation offered flowers and incense at the Ho Chi Minh Museum.

On the same day, an exhibition featuring photos, documents and artefacts relating to President Ho Chi Minh’s activities with homeland’s sea and islands and with the patriotic emulation movement was opened at the museum on the occasion of the 102 nd anniversary of his journey.-VNA
