Chilean Deputy Foreign Minister Alberto Van Klaveren and permanent Deputy FM of Vietnam, Pham Binh Minh, have held talks and political consultations between their two foreign ministries.

During his Vietnam visit from Aug. 23-25, the Chilean diplomat had working sessions with Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Do Huu Hao and Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Tien Tho.

At the meetings, Deputy FM Alberto Van Klavaren affirmed that Chile always attaches importance to developing ties with Vietnam .

The two sides informed each other of their foreign relations activities and reviewed the implementation of joint agreements between the two countries and two foreign ministries.

They shared the same view on the increasing development of bilateral ties and all-round cooperation between Vietnam and Chile during the past and exchanged measures to step this up in future, especially in economy and trade.

Host and guest affirmed their determination to build “comprehensive partnership relations” between the two countries in the spirit of the high-level statement made during Vietnamese Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh’s visit to Chile in May, 2007.

They also exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual concern./.
