The Party and Government of China treasure high-level exchanges with Vietnam and wish to expand them, Chinese State Councillor Yang Jiechi told Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong in Hanoi on October 27.

Their meeting took place after Yang and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh co-chaired the seventh meeting of the Vietnam-China Steering Committee for Bilateral Cooperation on the same day.

The Chinese side expressed its wish to foster cooperation with Vietnam on the economy, politics, national defence, culture, and people-to-people exchange, amongst others.

Yang expressed China’s desire to implement bilateral agreements reached between senior leaders in the past.

The host, on his part, reiterated Vietnam’s consistent policy of developing friendship and healthy cooperation with China for the mutual benefit.

Speaking highly of the outcomes of the committee’s meeting, the Party leader asked the committee to continue its work on the improvement of the bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership.

On the occasion, he also congratulated the Communist Party of China (CPC) on the recent success of its fourth conference, saying that he firmly believes the Chinese people will reap numerous rewards under the leadership of the CPC.-VNA
