China has agreed to provide loans totalling 1.8 billion USD to two development projects in Cambodia .

An agreement on a 121-million-USD loan from China to a project on the development of the irrigation system in Kampong Chhnang province and another on the construction of an electricity transmission line from Phnom Penh to Bavet was signed in Phnom Penh on October 16. The signing was witnessed by Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Keat Chhon.

The same day, a contract on a 1.67-billion-USD loan was also signed between the Cambodian side and China Eximbank to finance a project on the construction of the first oil refinery in Cambodia . The project, valued at 2.3 billion USD, will start the construction in early December.

Statistics show that so far China has provided Cambodia with loans totalling 2.8 billion USD to finance infrastructure development projects.-VNA
