Beijing (VNA) – China’s Guangxi province imported 6.36 million tonnes of coal via its border gate in the first quarter this year, up 23.2 percent year-on-year, mostly from the ASEAN member states such as Vietnam and Indonesia.

The Chinese papers cited analysts as saying that Guangxi’s soaring coal import is due to the low cost of coal produce and transport via Fang Cheng and Qin Zhou seaports, geographical location and policies, among others.

Also according to analysts, coal resources in the ASEAN member states, including Vietnam and Indonesia, are abundant and inexpensive, making them appealing to small Chinese enterprises.-VNA
