- Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Mass Mobilisation Truong Thi Mai on May 14 visited and offered greetings to outstanding Buddhist organisations and dignitaries in Ho Chi Minh City on the Buddha’s 2560th birth anniversary.

As the Buddha’s 2560th birthday takes place on the occasion of the election of deputies to the 14th National Assembly and all-level People’s Councils for the 2016-2021 tenure, Mai he expressed her hope that the Buddhist organisations and dignitaries will join hands with the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels to encourage followers to actively respond to the important event.

The official spoke highly of charitable activities the Buddhist organisations have provided for disadvantaged people, saying that they are in line with the government’s policy in ensuring social welfare for the needy.

She hoped that the dignities and followers will continue their efforts to uphold solidarity between religious groups and lead good secular and religious lives, thus contributing to building a prosperous Vietnam.

Together with a grand ceremony to welcome the Buddha’s birthday, the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) will also organise a line-up of significant events, including the National Buddhist Congress and a ceremony to mark 35th founding anniversary of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS), according to Most Venerable Thich Thien Nhon, Chairman of the VBS Executive Council.-VNA
