The Party General Secretary and State President of Laos, Chummaly Sayasone, on June 8 received a delegation from the Office of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC), led by its Head Ngo Van Du.

Sayasone applauded the delegation’s visit, describing it as a good chance for the two Party Central Committee Offices to share operation experiences.

The Lao leader said he hoped that the two offices would step up cooperation and exchanges in order to well perform their advisory functions for the Party Central Committees, Political Bureaus and Secretariats, thus further boosting the Laos-Vietnam comprehensive cooperation.

Du, who is also Secretary of the CPVCC, briefed his host on Vietnam ’s socio-economic situation and the results of the earlier talks with the Lao Party Central Committee Office. He pledged to spare no efforts to beef up cooperative relations between the two agencies.

A day earlier, Du held talks with his Lao counterpart Bunpon Buttanavong, during which they discussed cooperation plans for the coming time, especially the implementation of a project designed to develop IT infrastructure for the Lao Party Central Committee’s commissions.

During the week-long trip until June 12, the two offices organised a number of cultural and sports exchanges. The Vietnamese delegation visited several economic and cultural establishments in Vientiane and is scheduled to visit Khammuon province on June 10./.
