The annual Hanoi Traditional Craft Village Tourism Festival will be held at Quan Ngua Sports Palace from October 9 to 12, in celebration of the 60th anniversary of Hanoi’s Liberation Day.

This year’s festival, themed “Convergence of Quintessence”, will feature 366 stands by 194 organisations, both domestic and foreign.

It will be categorised into nine main areas showcasing traditional handicraft items, food, tourism products and folk games performance, according to To Van Dong, Director of Hanoi’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

A spectrum of porcelain, rattan and bamboo products, embroidery, folk paintings and wood carving crafts are to be introduced in the presence of well-known local craftsmen who will show off their excellent skills to visitors.

The cuisine corner will be highlighted by Hanoi’s signature food that will be accompanied by Korean dishes featured at 15 food stalls.

During the event, travel agencies will offer special deals for visitors in order to boost domestic travel demands.

The festival is part of the authorities’ effort to preserve and develop traditional craft villages in Hanoi as well as promote their image for tourism purposes.

Hanoi has so far had over 1,200 handicraft villages and tens of thousands of craft-making households, which had made sizable contributions to the city’s economic development.-VNA
