How to preserve Vietnamese values in an ever-changing world is challenging policymakers. A seminar held by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in Hanoi on May 28 reviewed the challenge.

Globalisation and science-technology advances are breaking down barriers among nations. Foreign cultures are strongly influencing Vietnamese people’s habits and lifestyles, especially the youth, through the media, literature, investment, tourism and exchange programmes.

In the face of an increasingly disparate society, participants at the event suggested the cultural sector train a highly qualified workforce to produce products imbued with Vietnamese cultural identities.

Additionally, it is necessary to raise a sense of public solidarity to benefit the country during the integration process, the said.

To preserve and uphold national identities, they proposed embracing world cultural ideals to enrich the national culture.-VNA
