The central city of Da Nang and the Republic of Korea (RoK)’s Changwon city have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on boosting their friendship and bilateral cooperation on the basis of equality and mutual respect.

The MoU was signed by Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee Van Huu Chien and Kim Seok Ki, acting Mayor of the RoK city, in Da Nang on June 18.

Under the document, the two sides will increase delegation exchanges and build cooperation programmes for mutual benefits in a range of fields, including administrative management, economy, education and cultural and art exchange. They will also encourage the ties between public and private organisations as well as young people in the two cities.

Addressing the signing ceremony, Chien highlighted similarities between the two cities in terms of natural conditions, human resources and economic development, expressing his hope that in the time ahead, the bilateral cooperation will be forwarded in the spheres of investment, human resource training and tourism development.

Kim Seok Ki said he hopes that more opportunities will emerge for the bilateral cooperation, especially in tourism.

Da Nang now has 35 valid projects invested by the RoK worth a combined 705 million USD. Last year, two-way trade between the city and the RoK was nearly 93.2 million USD.-VNA
