A team of three chefs from Intercontinental Da Nang Sun Peninsula Resort won first prize at the Chiec Thia Vang (Golden Spoon) contest, receiving 1 billion VND (47,370 USD) in cash and a trophy.

Co-organised by the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Association, the Business Studies and Assistance Centre and Binh Duong-based Minh Long I Company, the contest, the first of its kind in the country, attracted the participation of a total of 140 teams of chefs working in restaurants around Vietnam.

Fifteen outstanding teams comprising three chefs each competed in the final round in the southern province of Binh Duong from January 16.

The competition aimed to honour professional chefs who have conducted research about nutrition and introduced Vietnamese specialties and healthy dishes to tourists, Deputy General Director of Minh Long I Company Ly Huy Sang has said.-VNA
