Preparations for the 2016 Asian Beach Games (ABG) were at the forefront of discussions during a conference held in central Da Nang city on October 6.

After listening to a series of reports on coordinating the multi-sport event, representatives from the Olympic Council of Asia hailed the work carried out by the management board thus far.

After the conference, participants made a field trip to practise and competition locations as well accommodations for sport delegations.

Initiated by the Olympic Council of Asia, the ABG first took place in 2008 in Bali, Indonesia and has been held every two years since.

Next year, it is scheduled to run in Da Nang from September 24 – October 5. There will be 3,000 athletes from 45 countries and territories, including 350 competitors from Vietnam, rivalling in 14 categories.-VNA
