Hanoi (VNA)Delegates shared their ideas with the media about how to bring to life a resolution adopted at the 12th National Party Congress that closed in Hanoi on January 28 after eight days of sitting.

Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Cao Duc Phat, who was re-elected to the 12 th Party Central Committee, vowed to exert further efforts to put the Party policies and guidelines in place, meeting the public’s expectations.

Rear Admiral Dinh Gia That, Political Commissar of the Vietnam People’s Navy underscored the role and responsibility of top-ranking officials for realising any policies, particularly those focusing on drastic, comprehensive and synchronous socio-political reform, seen as a significant and urgent task of the Party towards putting the country on track to rapid and sustainable development.

As the Congress attached significant importance to the national defence cause, That called for developing a revolutionary, regular, elite and modernised army which is politically firm, yet flexible and ready to fight.

The Vietnam People’s Navy, which is tasked with safeguarding national sovereignty over seas, islands and the continental shelf, must master new and modern weapons and equipment, he said, adding that its Party Committee, the High Command and relevant units must determinedly improve weapon capabilities, as well as heightening the fighting spirit.

Delegate Trieu Dinh Le, permanent Vice Secretary of the Cao Bang provincial Party Committee, hailed preparations for documents sent to the Congress as thorough and comprehensive, and a focused combination of Party brainpower and public involvement.

According to him, discussions at the Congress highlighted strategic guidelines for national development during the new tenure.

He hoped that more capital will be poured into mountainous areas, including Cao Bang, thereby narrowing the development gap with plain localities.-VNA
