National Assembly Standing Committee deputies on October 14 discussed preparations for the legislature’s upcoming sixth session, which will run in the capital from October 21 to November 30.

National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung stressed the importance of the year-end session during which lawmakers are expected to adopt the draft amendments to the 1992 Constitution and the revised Land Law, and comment on the 2011-2015 socio-economic development plan, among other issues.

He required NA Committees, Councils and relevant agencies to work closely together so that the planned agenda will run smoothly.

The NA Standing Committee agreed to a proposal by the Ministry of Information and Communication on organising a display of maps and documents featuring historical evidence of Vietnam’s sovereignty over Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos at the venue where the NA session will take place.-VNA
