Nguyen Nguyet Nga, spouse of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh received a delegation of wives of ambassadors to China on September 7 in Hanoi.

The annual exchange, an initiative of the Foreign Ministry and the Embassy of Vietnam in Beijing, was attended by the wives of Ambassadors to China from the US, the EU, Slovakia, Mongolia, Chile, and Vietnam.

During the event, Nga expressed thanks to the ladies for their love for the traditional history, the people and the landscapes of Vietnam.

She said the visit was significant as it coincided with the 70th anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day (September 2), and the 70th founding anniversary of the diplomatic sector (August 28).

The wife of US Ambassador to China Melodee Hanes, who led the delegation, said she wishes the activity will continue to be held to enhance mutual understanding and the solidarity among countries and nations.

The guests expressed their impression of Vietnam’s socio-economic achievements, friendly people and their heroic traditions.

The delegation visited a number of scenic spots, including Ha Long Bay - the world natural heritage recognised by UNESCO in northern Quang Ninh province, Ho Guom (Sword) Lake in Hanoi Capital.

They are also scheduled to visit Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta region during the stay.-VNA
