Hoa Binh (VNA) – Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam has requested the Ministry of Health, the Department of Health and General Hospital of Hoa Binh province and Hanoi-based Bach Mai Hospital to mobilise all available resources to save 11 kidney patients who are receiving dialysis at the hospitals.

Earlier, seven other patients died on May 29 with suspected anaphylactic shock while receiving treatment at the General Hospital of Hoa Binh province.

Dam immediately came to the northern province of Hoa Binh to extend his sympathy to families of the dead and visit patients undergoing treatment.

Once the deaths were reported, the provincial General Hospital turned off its dialysis machines and transferred the living patients to Hoa Binh city’s General Hospital and Hanoi-based Bach Mai hospital for emergency treatment.

Luong Ngoc Khue, head of the Health Ministry’s Medical Examination and Treatment Department, led a working group to Hoa Binh the same day to deal with the incident.

Four doctors from Bach Mai hospital also went to the province to deliver assistance

During a working session with leaders of the provincial Health Department, Dam asked them to collaborate with the working group to detect the incident’s cause and clarify the responsibilities of individuals and units concerned.

The outcomes must be reported to the Health Ministry by May 30.-VNA
