Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai paid a working visit to the Ca Mau Gas-Electricity-Fertiliser Complex in the southernmost province of Ca Mau on January 15.

Deputy PM Hai, who is also Head of the State Steering Committee for Key Oil and Gas Works, asked the complex management board to make specific plans to ensure the construction tempo of the Ca Mau Fertiliser Plant project.

The board should coordinate with local authorities to quickly complete site clearance and resettlement work, he added.

The Deputy PM also urged the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PetroVienam) to boost its negotiation with several partners on providing more fuels for two power plants, Ca Mau 1 and 2, in the complex.

The group needs to map out specific plans on training local human resources to work at the two power plants in the longterm and actively build waste water treatment reservoirs for the plants, he said.

According to the complex’s Management Board, in 2009, the Ca Mau 1 and 2 Thermoelectric Power Plants turned out a total of over 6.4 billion kWh, grossing more than 6.7 trillion VND.

So far, work has completed on only 32.5 percent of the workload at the Ca Mau Fertiliser Plant, 90 days behind the schedule. Meanwhile, the Ca Mau Gas Plant is slated for test run in April 2011./.
