Hanoi (VNA) – Major General Doan Duy Khuong has been named Director of the Hanoi Police at a ceremony in the capital city on March 16.

Khuong replaces Major General Nguyen Duc Chung, who has been elected as Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee.

The new Director, a native of Nam Truc district in the northern province of Nam Dinh, was the assistant to Minister of Public Security Tran Dai Quang. The 56 year old general joined the public security force in 1977.

At the ceremony, Khuong pledged to do his utmost to fulfill all assigned tasks, with the first to ensure security and safety for the upcoming election of deputies to the 14th National Assembly and all-level People’s Councils for 2016-2021, along with other major political, cultural and social events in the year.

Last December, the 14th session of the municipal People’s Council (2011-2016) tenure elected Chung, who is also Vice Secretary of the municipal Party Committee, as Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee.-VNA
